The Amphion model 12 remote service security appliance provides
a high-performance and reliable solution for remotely accessing
machines. It works with Ei3's internet applications for remote monitoring
as well as Ei3's Argo service platform. The Amphion model 12 is
built to be installed inside a machine control panel on the factory
floor and has convenient features that make it easy to complete
the installation and set-up process. Once a machine is connected
to the internet using the Amphion model 12 it is possible to set-up
remote monitoring and provide secure access for remote service technicians.
This device is compatible with on-site equipment supplied by
most internet service providers including broadband site modems:
ADSL, cable, T-1 connections and can even be positioned behind
an existing firewall and connect through the plant's network .
The Amphion works by communicating through the internet with an
encrypted data connection to the Ei3's networking security service
center. Industry standard security techniques are used to create
a VPN (Virtual Private Network) between the machine LAN and the
service technician. A large number of IP addresses are supported
and existing machine networks are accommodated by using network
address translation. For remote networking diagnostic and configuration
sessions, a telephone connection is provided so that the Ei3 Corporation
NOC (Network Operations Center) can provide out of band technical
support.
