Ei3 Corporation is now shipping its new remote service security device, the Amphion. This device was created by Ei3 Corporation to streamline the process of putting industrial equipment on-line within an existing plant network infrastructure. The Amphion is compatible with Ei3 Corporation's entire line of secure remote access and remote monitoring Internet applications.
The Amphion is packaged within a rugged DIN rail mounted enclosure and has a protected 24VDC power supply. There are three Ethernet ports each with a dedicated function; one connects to a machine LAN, another connects to the plant LAN with access to the Internet and the third port that can be configured in a flexible manner to allow for special features such as a local technician access. The Amphion has a telephone port to enable modem access and out-of-band management and there is a RS-232 port provided for connection to serial devices.
Dr Bruce Platt, Ei3 Corporation's Vice President of Networks and Security lead the development team responsible for the project. He stated, "The Amphion incorporates the important networking concepts we have developed over the years into a compact and powerful package."
The Ei3 Amphion is named for a lesser legendary Greek god of the same name who helped move stones and build the fortifications of Thebes by playing beautiful music on his golden lyre. The Ei3 Amphion builds a fortification around customer's equipment using its firewall and routing capabilities.
Spencer Cramer, President and CEO of Ei3 Corporation noted, "Through our beta testing program, we have already demonstrated that using the Amphion enables remote points of connection to be rapidly incorporated into our secure application network. This new product gives us greater agility to meet our customer's demanding time tables."
Additional information about the Amphion Model 12 is available on the Ei3 corporation web site.
